Prosthetics & Physiotherapy
Rehabilitation is a Partnership
Successful treatment extends far beyond surgery.
Whether you are recovering from limb reconstruction, peripheral nerve surgery, major limb amputation or treatment for chronic pain, rehabilitation is often the most important part of achieving an excellent long-term outcome.
At the Leeds Limb Centre, we believe the best results are achieved when surgeons, prosthetists and physiotherapists work together from the outset. By sharing expertise and planning rehabilitation collaboratively, we can develop treatment programmes tailored to each patient’s individual goals, lifestyle and aspirations.
Working With Your Existing Team
Many of our patients are already receiving excellent care from local prosthetic services, physiotherapists or rehabilitation providers.
We are always happy to work alongside your existing clinical team.
This collaborative approach ensures continuity of care and allows us to integrate any surgical treatment into your established rehabilitation programme.
Our Preferred Rehabilitation Partner
For patients who do not already have an established prosthetic or physiotherapy provider, we are pleased to work closely with Proactive Prosthetics, an independent multidisciplinary rehabilitation organisation with clinics throughout the UK, including Leeds.
Their team brings together experienced prosthetists, orthotists, and physiotherapists deliver personalised care focused on helping patients regain independence and confidence.
Working together, we can provide seamless care from surgical assessment through to prosthetic prescription, rehabilitation and long-term follow-up.
A Multidisciplinary Approach
Every patient’s rehabilitation requirements are different.
Depending on your condition, your care may involve collaboration between:
- Plastic and reconstructive surgeons
- Orthopaedic surgeons
- Prosthetists
- Physiotherapists
- Occupational therapists
- Rehabilitation physicians
- Pain specialists
By bringing these disciplines together, we aim to provide coordinated treatment rather than isolated episodes of care.
In many cases, rehabilitation planning begins before surgery and continues throughout recovery to maximise long-term function.
Beyond the Operation
Rehabilitation may include:
- Prosthetic assessment and fitting
- Socket optimisation
- Gait retraining
- Strength and conditioning
- Scar management
- Desensitisation programmes
- Return to work planning
- Return to sport and recreational activities
Our goal is not simply successful surgery, but helping every patient achieve the highest possible level of comfort, independence and quality of life.
