Occasionally, broken bones heal in the wrong position (malunion) or fail to heal completely (nonunion). This can lead to pain, deformity, instability, weakness, or difficulty using the limb.
Treatment may involve correcting bone alignment, stabilising the fracture, bone grafting, revision fixation, or reconstructive surgery. The aim is to restore alignment, encourage bone healing, and improve function.
Each treatment plan is tailored to the individual patient and the complexity of the problem.
