Complex limb injuries often involve damage to both bone and soft tissue. Orthoplastic reconstruction combines plastic surgery and orthopaedic principles to restore limb function, stability, and appearance.
This may involve wound reconstruction, flap surgery, bone reconstruction, infection management, or limb salvage procedures following trauma, cancer treatment, or complications from previous surgery.
Treatment is highly individualised, with the aim of preserving function, reducing pain, and helping patients return to daily life as fully as possible.
For the majority of UK patients this care will be available in the immediate aftermath of injury through NHS pathways, but we are available for consultation, advice and treatment support for patients suffering the late effects of complex limb trauma.
